Sikh Lawyers Association is pleased to announce the
launch of our Mentorship Scheme
Sikh Lawyers Association launched its mentorship scheme in January 2021, and we intended to allocate new mentees to our experienced mentors every year.
The mentorship scheme aims to provide students and those at early stages in their legal careers with guidance, support, and advice on their careers within the legal profession. The support provided will include, assisting with employment applications (training contract or pupillage), building a network in the legal profession, and an opportunity for students to potentially gain some work experience within their desired legal field.
Our lawyers will be giving up their spare time to assist you in reaching your goals and providing you with the support that you need to succeed in this demanding profession. We ask that once you are paired up with your mentors, you should commit to the time slots or meeting arrangements agreed with your mentor. Mentees are requested to work and arrange meetings at the convenience of their mentors. This is due to the reason that all of our mentors have a busy practice and their work commitments should not have to be altered to suit your convenience.
In Sikhism, we believe in giving back to the community. Sikh Lawyers Association hopes to enact that core principle by assisting those who wish to pursue a career within the legal profession.
We look forward to working with both the students and lawyers in making a difference in our community!
Mentees
To be considered for the mentorship scheme, please email us your CV along with a cover letter (of no more than 500 words) detailing why you should be selected from this mentorship scheme.
Please also specify what areas of law you are interested in, and what is your desired career path, for example: qualifying as a legal executive, a solicitor, or a barrister. This information will enable us to find you the right mentor with the relevant working experience to best support and guide you.
Our mentorship program has been running since January 2021. We welcome ad-hoc applications from students throughout the year.
