Welcome to the Sikh Lawyers Association

Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh.

Welcome to the Sikh Lawyers Association (“SLA”).

The Sikh Lawyers Association was the first-ever organisation created in September 2020 in the UK to unite and assist Sikh lawyers and students in the legal profession. The purpose is to support and encourage Sikhs to enter the profession, to network and to highlight role models.

We are a non-political independent association based on the core principles and values of Sikhism.

We look forward to working with both lawyers and students across various communities and celebrating inclusion in the profession.

Thank you.

Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ke Fateh.

OUR CORE VALUES:

The Sikh Lawyers Association is built on the three core principles of the Sikh ethos:

Kirat Karna

To earn one’s livelihood through creative, productive, and honest labour. In the legal profession, this can entail striving to maximise the efforts we undertake for our clients.

Vand Chhakna

This is the concept of sharing with others. The principle is not limited to sharing only wealth, but also to our time and expertise in practice. The concept of Sewa (selfless service) is intrinsic to the aims of SLA.

Naam Japna

To remain humble and appreciate that we are a small part of a greater connectivity. To enshrine this in what we do and to remember our Creator, who exists outwith physical form, gender or class.

Find Out More:

The Sikh Lawyers Association is founded upon the bedrock of helping others. There is a desire to open doors for those who have no connections and no contacts in the legal profession. There is a desire to empower those without any other means to achieve the career they aspire to There is a desire to remain humble and to ensure that we remain humble whilst maintaining the SLA for all members.
